Smart Scrunchies links groups together, brings positive recognition to the brand, while making festivals safer for everyone. When Pantene asked to have a presence at music festivals, we took into account sexual assaults growing more prevalent across the country at festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza and SXSW . We came up with “Smart Scrunchies” – hair ties with a purpose – to both meet Pantene’s ask and to address the dangerous aspect of festivals. A specialized gold bead on the scrunchie has a RFID tag that tracks the wearer’s location throughout the park. Press one bead, and an emergency alert will be set to your friends phones:
Once – “I’m lost”
Twice – “Meet at (a pre-disclosed location)”
Three times – “I’m in potential danger”
There are pillars located throughout the festival to dispense the scrunchies and act as meeting points for friends.
